Bio

Suze Harper is a New Zealand-born, London-based singer-songwriter blending jazz, soul, blues and pop with classical vocal roots. Raised on a farm in the South Island of New Zealand, Harper discovered her powerful voice and natural instinct for songwriting at a young age.

While studying her final year of law school in Paris, Harper reconnected with her deep musical instinct and passion for live performance. After performing in Parisian jazz clubs and playing on the streets with her guitar, she moved to London, leaving a career in law behind to hone an original sound shaped by jazz, soul, blues, pop and classical influence.

With an extensive vocal range, distinctive tone, evocative lyricism and natural stage wit, Harper brings warmth, emotional depth and authenticity to her performances. Influenced by an eclectic range of artists including Etta James, Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, her songwriting is instinctively melodic, lyrically thoughtful and unconstrained by formula.

Recorded with Spiritual Records, Harper’s debut four-track collection unfolds across “Not That Hard,” “Anthony,” “Little One’s Lullaby” and the forthcoming “Lovers’ Lament,” tracing an emotional arc through love, lostness, home and heartbreak.

“Suze Harper’s artistic identity is already vivid. She is a storyteller with humor woven into her honesty, a singer with natural emotional clarity, and a songwriter capable of translating personal moments into universally felt melodies. She carries the grounding charm of a New Zealand farmer’s daughter, the sharp eye of an analyst, and the sensitivity of someone who observes the world with compassion.”
